 By Charles Mkoka

Dar es Salaam – The ongoing Pharma Exhibition at the Diamond Jubilee Hall has brought together unique technologies and innovations in pharmatech, health, and medical laboratory equipment, offering vast opportunities for the sector across East Africa.

Among the key highlights is the world’s first Digital Near Vision Chart, branded Medix, which has been unveiled in Dar es Salaam. The device has already attracted attention for its outstanding performance in improving vision testing for patients.

“This is an exclusive device, showcased for the first time globally. It aims at improving near vision for almost everyone, and it doesn’t require medical expertise to use — anyone can have it,” said Mr. Yajat Vats, during the launch.

The Medix device comes with a user-friendly dashboard featuring multiple charts, including tests for color blindness, text reading, language-based assessments, and more. It also supports multiple languages such as English and French, enhancing accessibility.

The innovation is powered by a rechargeable battery, compatible with both Type-C and Micro-B charging ports, ensuring convenience for users.

The product is developed by Mex Enterprises, a company widely recognized in India for its experience in sight and vision equipment, ranging from surgical tools to eye care solutions.

Organizers say the exhibition has provided an important platform for companies to showcase cutting-edge technologies that will transform healthcare delivery in the region.
