Dar Councils told to deploy national service graduates

The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner has directed all city and municipal councils to fully utilize graduates of the National Service (Jeshi la Akiba) in carrying out various operations across the region.

The announcement came on August 15, 2025, during the closing ceremony of the Initial National Service Training for Group 63/2025 at the Twalipo TPDF camp in Temeke.

Temeke District Commissioner, Mr. Sixtus Mapunda, delivering the message on behalf of Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila, urged councils to act quickly.

“All councils must engage these young men and women immediately. Directors should deploy them before they return to their communities, or they risk losing their discipline and commitment,” Mapunda said.

He added that the graduates could assist in revenue collection, election preparations, and other key operations in the councils.

Mapunda also called on the graduates to participate fully in the general election on October 29 and encourage other youths to vote. “I entrust you with the responsibility of mobilizing your peers to take part in the elections,” he said.

He reminded the graduates to uphold the oath they took and to avoid using their training for illegal activities.

Colonel Emmanuel Kasyupa, National Service Advisor for Dar es Salaam, said the program included 348 graduates 263 men and 85 women from five districts: Ilala, Temeke, Kinondoni, Kigamboni, and Ubungo.

The 18-week training, which began on April 4, 2025, included lessons in discipline, combat skills, bushcraft, map reading, first aid, fire and rescue, immigration, national security, anti-corruption, small arms handling, and police duties.

Trainers came from the TPDF, police, immigration, national security, and fire and rescue services.

Kasyupa said the graduates had reached the required standards and were ready to serve the nation in various capacities.

He advised them to make their oath visible as a reminder of their duty to the country and its citizens.

In their closing statement, the graduates called on the government to increase the training budget and give priority to National Service graduates joining JKT and other government institutions.
