Civic United Front (CUF) presidential flag bearer, Gombo Samandito Gombo, has formally collected nomination forms from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of Tanzania’s 2025 General Election.
He was accompanied by his running mate, Husna Mohamed Abdalla, during the handover ceremony held at the commission’s headquarters in Dodoma on August 13, 2025.
The forms, contained in a symbolic briefcase, were presented by INEC Chairperson, Court of Appeal Judge Jacobs Mwambegele, in the presence of the commission’s Director of Elections, Mr. Ramadhan Kailima.
Judge Mwambegele urged the candidates to strictly observe electoral procedures and meet all legal requirements before returning the forms. The official nomination process is scheduled for August 27, 2025.
Mr. Kailima guided Hon. Gombo on completing the documents, after which both the presidential candidate and his running mate signed the commission’s register to confirm receipt.
Speaking to the press, Gombo said CUF was ready to offer a vision rooted in unity, economic growth, and social justice.
“This is a moment of responsibility and commitment. We intend to present solutions that resonate with the aspirations of every Tanzanian,” he said.
Abdalla echoed the sentiment, stressing the importance of inclusive governance in driving the country forward.
With CUF now in possession of its nomination documents, the party joins a growing list of contenders in what is shaping up to be a closely watched presidential race.
