By Our Correspondent - Songea

Ugin Mkinga is a new and compelling name in the political landscape of Tanzania, especially for those invested in the future development of Madaba Constituency.

He is a patriotic young man with international expertise and a selfless spirit, who has now officially declared his candidacy for Member of Parliament under the ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), with the sole aim of wholeheartedly serving the constituency he hails from.

His political journey is not accidental but rather deeply rooted, as Ugin was born into a political family. His mother was a founder of the renowned Temeke Ward and served as a Councilor for Kurasini, an experience that raised Ugin in an environment of leadership, accountability, and genuine politics from an early age.

For over 18 years, Ugin lived in Australia, where he acquired advanced knowledge, vast experience, and a global perspective on community development. While abroad, he carried his patriotism with pride and always dreamt of returning home to serve the people of Madaba.

The name Ugin Mkinga is increasingly gaining popularity in Madaba Constituency, especially after the establishment of the Mkinga Foundation, which has significantly supported the underprivileged. Through this foundation, he has reached many through unconditional community services.

He is a true son of Madaba, born in Mahanje Village and raised in Mabanda, Lilondo Ward. He is an alumnus of Lilondo Primary School. His closeness with the community demonstrates that he understands their struggles, challenges, and dreams, and is ready to be part of the solution.

Ugin is not just a politician but an action-oriented leader with facilitation skills, capable of managing, coordinating, and implementing development projects. He believes that true development requires visionary leadership, transparency, and community participation.

He upholds the belief that “charity begins at home,” which guides him to invest his time and resources in the community he was born into. This shows that his mission is not only political but also a sincere calling to serve his place of origin.

Mkinga brings forth grand visions to transform Madaba into a self-reliant constituency by harnessing its resources. He believes that with cooperation between the government, party, and citizens, Madaba can become a development hub in southern Tanzania.

His ability to communicate across all age groups sets him apart. He understands the language of youth, elders, women, and special groups, and gives them space to actively participate in the development of the constituency.

He advocates for inclusive development that touches every citizen. His agenda is not only focused on infrastructure but also on quality education, healthcare, youth employment, and women empowerment sectors that have long needed new energy in the constituency.

His loyalty to CCM is unquestionable. He is a true CCM member who understands the party’s foundations and the philosophy of past leaders such as Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and the late Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, who intellectually inspired him on the idea of exemplary public service.

Ugin Mkinga understands that development is not a one-man show but a result of solidarity. With that in mind, he is prepared to collaborate with government and party leaders to ensure everyone becomes part of Madaba’s success story.

One of his major goals is to politically, socially, and economically unite the entire constituency. He aims to eliminate unnecessary divisions and promote lasting harmony among all villages and wards of Madaba.

He is a leader who listens, learns, and executes. His words are filled with humility but also carry new hope for the people of Madaba, with a promise of development free from any form of discrimination.

He is a candidate with solid plans to modernize agriculture, open up markets for farmers’ produce, and increase the value of their products. He understands that Madaba’s economy relies on agriculture and will ensure the sector receives strong support.

In the education sector, he has pledged significant investment—building quality classrooms, providing learning materials, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure children in Madaba receive quality education like their urban counterparts.

His integrity, honesty, and willingness to serve have drawn admiration from many Madaba residents. Many say, “This is not a politician of words, but of action,” as his deeds are already visible even before assuming official leadership.

Ugin Mkinga fully understands that leadership is a trust. He has vowed to prioritize public interest over personal gain and to ensure that every cent of public resources is used efficiently and transparently.

Mwalimu Jailos Wilson Ndali: A Testimony of Ugin Mkinga’s Upbringing and Leadership

Mwalimu Jailos Wilson Ndali, a former teacher at Lilondo Primary School in the Madaba District Council since 1978, fondly recalls welcoming Ugin Mkinga into first grade in 1980.

At the time, Ugin was living with his grandfather while his parents resided in Dar es Salaam. Given these circumstances, Ugin’s parents officially entrusted Mwalimu Ndali with the responsibility of overseeing their son’s education and upbringing at the school.

Later, Mwalimu Ndali transferred to Tuliani Primary School, but the memory of Ugin remained vivid. He explains that Ugin was a diligent and bright student who actively participated in all school activities. He emerged as a young leader early on, setting him apart from his peers.

Mwalimu Ndali notes that Ugin’s leadership is innate, as demonstrated by the strong moral values and upbringing he received from his parents. His mother was a government official, and his father a soldier—an environment that instilled a sense of responsibility, discipline, and hard work.

Mwalimu Ndali wishes Ugin Mkinga all the best in his new political journey and believes that with his dedication and selfless spirit, he will effectively serve the people of Madaba and bring them sustainable development.

Mr. Ugin Mkinga is a next-generation leader combining international expertise, genuine patriotism, and a deep commitment to serving the people of Madaba. Should the party grant him the mandate to carry CCM’s flag, it is clear that Madaba Constituency will have a true representative—not just in name, but in action.
