Tanzania will be represented by two swimmers at the prestigious World Aquatics Championships, scheduled to take place in Singapore from July 27 to August 3, 2025.

Collins Saliboko and Michael Joseph will fly the national flag at the international event after undergoing intensive preparations in South Africa, where they are currently attending a high-performance training camp.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, the Tanzania Swimming Association’s (TSA) Director of Competitions, Amina Mfaume, confirmed that the athletes are expected to depart for Singapore on July 24.

“Our swimmers are working hard in camp, and we as an association are also doing everything we can to ensure they are well prepared,” said Mfaume.

While TSA is not setting medal targets, Mfaume said the goal is to see the swimmers improve their times and gain valuable experience competing on the global stage.

“These championships are extremely competitive, so our main focus is on performance. We want them to lower their times and build confidence for future competitions,” she added.

In addition to the Singapore event, TSA is also looking ahead to the World Youth Swimming Championships, which will take place from August 14 to 24, 2025.

Mfaume said the association is currently engaging stakeholders and potential sponsors to support the participation of young athletes in upcoming international tournaments.

“We are actively reaching out to partners who can support our vision. International exposure is key to nurturing swimming talent in Tanzania,” she said.

Tanzania’s participation in such global events is part of a broader strategy to develop the sport and inspire the next generation of swimmers through international competition and high-level training opportunities.
