Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for East African Affairs, Dennis Londo, has extended congratulations to the Republic of Burundi on the occasion of its 63rd independence anniversary.
The celebration, organised by the Burundian Embassy in Tanzania, took place at the ambassador’s residence in Masaki, Dar es Salaam.
Hon. Londo was warmly received by Her Excellency Leontine Nzeyimana, Burundi’s Ambassador to Tanzania. The event drew a diverse diplomatic gathering, including ambassadors from various countries and representatives of international organisations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Londo commended Burundi on its milestone, praising the enduring and growing diplomatic ties between the two neighbouring countries.
He described the bilateral relationship as historic and underscored the expanding cooperation in multiple sectors.
Highlighting recent developments, Hon. Londo noted Tanzania’s appreciation for Burundi’s investment initiatives within its borders.
Of particular significance was the recent inauguration of the ITRACOM fertilizer factory in Nala-Dodoma, a project symbolising strengthened economic collaboration between the two nations, officially opened by the heads of state.
The Deputy Minister also spoke of the ongoing joint efforts to complete the modern railway line linking Tanzania and Burundi, focusing on the 282-kilometre stretch from Uvinza in Tanzania to Musongati in Burundi. This infrastructure project aims to boost regional integration and deepen economic ties.
The event concluded with a mutual commitment to maintain and enhance the robust diplomatic relationship. Both parties pledged continued cooperation to ensure sustainable development and closer partnership between Tanzania and Burundi.
