How “Made in Tanzania” logo will boost global visibility of local products

The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has introduced a new national logo—Made in Tanzania—to help promote local products in international markets.

According to TanTrade’s Director of Trade Development, Ms. Lulu Mkudde, the logo will help businesses of all sizes present their goods under one national identity. She said the logo is part of a long-term strategy to make Tanzanian products more visible and competitive globally.

“Our goal is to make Tanzanian products easily recognizable and trusted on the global stage,” she said.

The logo was launched on Monday during the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF). Zanzibar President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi officiated the event.

The initiative began in November 2024. A total of 88 logo designs were submitted from across the country. Out of those, 10 were selected for further development. The final logo was chosen through a public voting process after three top designs were shortlisted.

TanTrade said the new logo will cover many sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, creative industries, and services. By using one brand, exporters will benefit from shared promotion and stronger consumer trust in global markets.

President Mwinyi said the new logo is an important step toward solving the problem of low visibility for Tanzanian products abroad.

“This is an important step in building the reputation of Tanzanian products globally,” he said.

TanTrade plans to provide usage guidelines and a registration system to make sure the logo is used correctly. It will also run awareness campaigns to help producers and exporters understand how to use the logo to add value to their products.

The Made in Tanzania brand is expected to support the government’s goal of growing exports and promoting industrialization. The logo will also help build pride in local innovation and product quality.
