Tanzania to host 64 top pool players in Regional showdown

A total of 64 elite pool players from Tanzania and Zambia will face off in a high-stakes tournament set to take place from tomorrow through July 13, 2025, at the Snipers Billiards Centre in Dar es Salaam.

The event, organized by the Tanzania Pool Association (TAPA), will feature 62 local players and two invited professionals from Zambia, promising a thrilling display of regional talent and competitive flair.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, TAPA Secretary General Abdallah Omar Abdullah confirmed that preparations for the tournament are nearly complete, with expectations running high for a fiercely contested battle on the pool table.

“We are well-prepared, and this tournament brings together some of the best pool players in the country. It will be an exciting platform to determine who really is the best of the best,” he said.

The tournament offers cash prizes for the top eight finishers, with the champion set to receive TSh 1 million.

 The runner-up will take home TSh 400,000, while the third-place finisher will earn TSh 200,000. The fourth-place player will walk away with TSh 100,000, and those finishing fifth to eighth will each be awarded TSh 50,000.

Abdullah emphasized the importance of the competition, noting that it not only elevates the standard of pool in Tanzania but also strengthens sporting ties within the region.

“This isn’t just a competition it’s a celebration of talent and a chance to grow the sport both locally and across borders,” he added.

The tournament is expected to draw a large number of fans and stakeholders, as the Snipers Billiards Centre becomes the epicenter of cue sports action over the coming days.
