Tabora United gears up for a stronger Tanzania Premier League comeback

By Flora Mkoloma

Tabora Regional Commissioner Paul Chacha has revealed ambitious plans to revamp Tabora United ahead of the upcoming Tanzania Premier League season, vowing to build a younger, more competitive, and disciplined team.

Speaking to reporters, Chacha said the club will focus on signing talented players aged 25 and under, with a clear emphasis on skill, integrity, and potential.

“We are targeting players under the age of 25 who truly understand the game. This will not be a routine recruitment we’re going for quality and character. Those previously linked to corruption or match-fixing will not be part of our plans. We're building a clean and competitive squad,” said Chacha.

He added that the club is preparing to conduct a robust recruitment process, bringing in more players than before to ensure Tabora United is well-equipped to compete at the highest level.

As part of a broader strategy to deepen community engagement, the Regional Commissioner also announced plans for a special event dubbed Tabora United Day

The occasion will serve as an official unveiling of the new squad and a regional celebration of the team’s ambitions.

“This will be more than just a player launch  it will be a festival for the entire region. Elders, youth, and football lovers from across Tabora will come together to support their team. Let me make it clear: going forward, there will only be one real challenge for Tabora United  and it won’t come from within this region,” Chacha added with confidence.

Reflecting on the club’s recent performance, Chacha noted that finishing fifth in the league was a respectable achievement, but it left the team hungry for more.

“We finished fifth this season. Had we performed better in a few key matches, we could’ve gone even further. Still, it’s a strong foundation, and we’re building on it,” he said.

With clear goals, renewed energy, and a commitment to excellence, Tabora United is setting its sights on becoming a powerhouse in Tanzanian football.

The region’s leadership, fans, and players are rallying behind a new era one that promises passion, pride, and progress on the pitch.
