As the much-anticipated Safari Cup final approaches, the reigning champions of the Safari Lager tournament have been challenged to put their best foot forward not merely for victory, but to catch the eyes of scouts and clubs across the country.
The champions are set to lock horns with giants Yanga SC at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam in what promises to be a thrilling finale.
Speaking today, July 16, 2025, during a special mentorship session with the players, Safari Lager partnered with former football greats to offer advice and inspiration.
The session was spearheaded by Ally Kamwe, Manager for Information and Communication, who emphasized performance over results.
“This is not just about winning,” Kamwe told the players. “It’s about demonstrating your potential. Last season lacked real competition, but this year, the talent level is higher and we want to see you rise to the occasion.”
Kamwe stressed that with club representatives and talent scouts watching, the match offers a unique platform for young players to attract attention and possibly earn professional opportunities.
Also present was Safari Lager Brand Manager, Pamela Kikuli, who expressed gratitude to Yanga SC for their continued partnership in the second season of the talent development initiative.
“We commend Yanga for joining hands with us once again in empowering young footballers,” said Kikuli. “Our players have not only trained hard but have also participated in workshops on a variety of life skills while in camp.”
To enhance the day’s excitement, the organizers have scheduled a curtain-raiser match between local artists and Yanga supporters.
A musical lineup will feature performances from top local entertainers including Mario and Dogo Paten, promising a festive atmosphere for fans.
Ticket prices have been set at TSh 3,000 for VIP A, TSh 2,000 for VIP B, and TSh 1,000 for regular entry (mzunguko).
Yanga’s Director of Competitions, Ibrahim Mohammed, noted that the club is closely monitoring the tournament and is prepared to offer opportunities to any standout performers.
“If a player’s talent aligns with our vision, we will not hesitate to bring them on board,” said Mohammed.
“We are here to support this programme, and we are committed to ensuring that the most promising players continue their football journey beyond this competition.”
The final marks not only a celebration of emerging talent but also a reaffirmation of the role corporate partnerships can play in nurturing the next generation of Tanzanian football stars.
