The District Administrative Secretary of Arusha, Jacob Rombo, has called on public servants in the Ministry of Construction to strictly observe ethical standards by protecting official secrets and following government rules and guidelines.
This, he said, is vital for delivering quality infrastructure services such as roads and bridges to the community.
Rombo made the remarks yesterday during the opening of a training workshop on customer service within the public sector, organized by the Public Service Management and Good Governance Directorate at the Public Service College of Tanzania in Arusha.
“We must work with integrity in the areas entrusted to us and ensure we do not become a source of leaking government information,” Rombo said.
He stressed the importance of regular training to remind and equip public servants about their duties and responsibilities.
Rombo also commended the Ministry of Construction’s leadership for successfully managing various road and bridge projects across the country, noting that these projects are improving the livelihoods of many citizens.
Onesmo Mkandawile, Senior Human Resources Officer and coordinator of the training, said the sessions are part of the Ministry’s 2024/25 training plan. The training started in January 2025 and is being conducted in phases to reach all staff.
Trainer Emmanuel Masewa from the Public Service College of Tanzania outlined key topics covered in the training, including ethics, anti-corruption, accountability, office communication, confidentiality, customer service, relevant public service laws and regulations, as well as emotional intelligence and mental health.
