Korosho Queens, the girls' volleyball team from Mtwara, is set to begin a residential training camp on July 8, 2025, in preparation for the National Volleyball League (TVNL), scheduled to start on July 25 at the MwembeYanga courts in Dar es Salaam.
The players have been granted a one-week break after participating in the national inter-secondary school games (UMISETA) held recently in Iringa.
According to the team's schedule, the training camp will run from July 8 to 22 at Mkapa Secondary School in Mangata, Nanyumbu District.
Speaking on July 1, Head Coach Enock Akyoo confirmed the preparations, noting that the team had already initiated early groundwork by taking part in school-level competitions.
These included the (Umoja wa Michezo ya Shule za Msingi Tanzania UMITASHUMTA) and (Umoja wa Michezo ya Shule za Sekondari Tanzania UMISETA), which form a critical part of the club’s talent development strategy.
"After an intense schedule during the UMITASHUMTA and UMISETA tournaments, we gave the players time to rest and reconnect with their families. Now, we are regrouping to focus on the league ahead,” said Coach Akyoo.
He underscored the club’s long-term vision of investing in local talent and offering young athletes a platform to grow and transition into competitive volleyball.
“We are committed to nurturing grassroots talent. Our focus is to ensure that young players from Mtwara are seen, supported, and given the exposure they need to reach higher levels—including national teams and top clubs,” he added.
Akyoo emphasized that continued participation in school competitions remains central to the team’s philosophy of building a sustainable and competitive volleyball program in the region.
With the upcoming National Volleyball League drawing closer, Korosho Queens are determined to make a strong impression, building on their foundation of discipline, development, and community support.
