The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Journalists Accreditation Board (JAB), Advocate Patrick Kipangula, has officially handed over a Press Card to Michuzi Media Group CEO, Mr. Muhidin Issa Michuzi, as part of an ongoing nationwide issuance process to qualified journalists.
Mr. Michuzi received the card on behalf of several other journalists who have successfully met the legal requirements for accreditation.
The symbolic handover underscores the board’s commitment to upholding professional journalism standards across the country.
Speaking shortly after the presentation, Advocate Kipangula congratulated Mr. Michuzi and all accredited journalists, noting that the issuance marks a significant milestone in strengthening professionalism and compliance within the media industry.
He, however, urged journalists who are yet to receive their Press Cards to revisit the application system and verify their uploaded documents.
"Before contacting the Board to follow up on the status of their applications, we strongly advise applicants to first check that their attachments are properly uploaded and accessible," he emphasized.
Advocate Kipangula further pointed out that a large number of pending applications have been delayed due to submission errors.
Common issues include unreadable or missing documents, duplication of files, inclusion of non-recognized academic certificates, and failure to attach letters of endorsement from media houses.
“These errors are preventing otherwise qualified journalists from being accredited,” he said. “We encourage all applicants to carefully review their submissions to ensure they comply with the legal requirements.”
The Journalists Accreditation Board is continuing its verification and issuance process and has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that only those who meet the legal and professional criteria are issued with Press Cards.
The initiative is part of wider efforts to professionalize the media sector and ensure accountability among practitioners.
