In a strong show of support for private sector development, Iringa Regional Commissioner Comrade Kheri James has led a high-level regional event recognizing outstanding investors and businesspeople for their vital contributions to the region’s economy.

Held at the Regional Commissioner’s office, the award ceremony brought together leading entrepreneurs and investors from across all districts of Iringa Region.

The event served as a platform to honor individuals and companies that have significantly boosted job creation, expanded public services, supported government revenue, and contributed to the growth of towns and communities.

Speaking during the ceremony, Comrade James said the government recognizes the private sector as a critical partner in driving economic transformation.

“The Government has decided to formally acknowledge and appreciate the major role played by investors and business leaders in generating employment, delivering services to citizens, and stimulating economic activity across Iringa,” he said.

According to the Regional Commissioner, the awards were not only a form of appreciation but also a motivation for continued excellence, innovation, and responsible business practices that benefit the broader society.

Comrade James stressed that the government remains committed to enhancing the business environment by addressing bottlenecks and promoting policies that support both local and foreign investment.

“We will continue to improve the investment climate to ensure that Iringa becomes an even more attractive destination for business. Our goal is to expand individual economic opportunities while opening up broader investment avenues that benefit the public at large,” he said.

The ceremony highlighted several key players in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality, and retail, whose investments have had a tangible impact on the lives of residents.

The Regional Commissioner called on more entrepreneurs to follow the example of the award recipients, noting that inclusive economic growth depends on vibrant partnerships between government and the private sector.

As Iringa continues to position itself as a strategic hub in Tanzania’s economic landscape, this latest recognition effort underscores the region’s commitment to supporting enterprise and creating a prosperous future for all.
