Tanzanian champions Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga SC) have bolstered their midfield by signing 21-year-old Guinean international Balla Moussa Conté on a three-year contract.

Conté joins the Jangwani giants from CS Sfaxien of Tunisia, where he had been showcasing his talent in the Tunisian top flight. His arrival marks another strategic move by Yanga as they continue to build a competitive squad ahead of the new season.

Yanga confirmed the signing on Thursday evening through their official social media channels, posting a photo of Conté putting pen to paper. The caption read: “If you want the services of Balla Moussa Conté, you’ll have to wait three years,” signalling the club’s long-term commitment to the young midfielder.

The post was also accompanied by the phrase: “Balla Moussa Conté is Green and Yellow,” a reference to Yanga’s iconic colours and an official welcome to the Jangwani side.

Speaking on the signing, Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager Ally Kamwe revealed that acquiring Conté was a complex process due to the player’s existing contract with CS Sfaxien and the high demand for his services.

“We faced stiff competition from clubs across Africa and Asia,” said Kamwe. “What helped us succeed was our willingness to invest significantly and present a compelling project that aligned with the player’s ambitions.”he added

Kamwe explained that Yanga had to offer a strong financial package and a clear vision of the player’s future at the club.

“We convinced him that Yanga is the right place to grow and achieve his career goals,” he added.

Conté’s arrival comes as Yanga aim to build on their recent success, having clinched five major trophies last season.

His signing is expected to add depth and dynamism to the team’s midfield as they gear up for both domestic and continental campaigns.

To Yanga fans, Kamwe had a final message: “If your team was hoping to sign someone named Conté, you’ll have to live with the disappointment because he belongs to Yanga now.”
