Fountain Gate FC has officially unveiled rising star Juma Issa Abushiri, popularly known as “Chuga,” after signing the Tanzania U-17 national team player on a five-year contract.
The announcement was made during a signing ceremony held at Tanga Beach Resort Hotel, where Fountain Gate FC President Japhet Makau reaffirmed the club’s long-standing commitment to youth development.
“This signing reflects our firm belief in giving young players a platform to grow and shine,” said Makau.
“Chuga is one of our own he came through our youth system, studied in our schools, and his talent was spotted and nurtured early on.”he added
Makau emphasized that the club’s mission is to provide young athletes with the opportunity to compete at the highest level, gain experience in the Premier League, and potentially pursue international careers.
“Our goal is not only to build a strong team but also to create pathways for young players to explore professional opportunities abroad,” he added.
Last season, Fountain Gate promoted eight players under the age of 20 to the senior team—a move that Makau says paid off as the youngsters showed strong competitiveness at the top level.
With Chuga’s promotion, Fountain Gate continues to set an example for clubs across Tanzania by investing in homegrown talent and reinforcing the importance of long-term youth development in football.
