CRDB Taifa Cup Basketball quarterfinals to light up Chinangali today

The CRDB Taifa Cup basketball tournament reaches a crucial stage today as the quarterfinals tip off at Chinangali grounds in Dodoma, with top teams from both the men’s and women’s categories battling for a place in the semifinals.

Following intense group-stage matches, the fixture is now set. In the men’s division, Mtwara will face Mwanza, Dodoma will clash with Kigoma, Shinyanga meets Dar es Salaam, and Unguja takes on Mara in what promises to be a day of high-energy showdowns.

For the women’s side, Arusha is lined up against Kigoma, Mbeya will play Morogoro, and the day’s highlight is the all-Dar es Salaam derby.

These matches will determine the semifinalists, with the next round of games scheduled to be played tomorrow at the same venue.

Group-stage action concluded yesterday with several decisive results. In the men’s category, Tabora cruised past Manyara 53–23, while Mbeya overwhelmed Rukwa 91–54. 

Hosts Dodoma gave fans a reason to cheer after dominating Mwanza 90–52, and Kigoma emerged victorious with a 79–53 win over Arusha.

Elsewhere, Pwani outplayed Morogoro 64–48, and Dar es Salaam handed Mara a 69–45 defeat.

In the women’s matches, Mbeya edged Unguja 40–30, and Mara posted an emphatic 92–40 win over Tabora, setting the tone for a thrilling climax to the tournament.
