Tanzanian boxer Yusuph Changalawe has vowed to secure a decisive victory in the upcoming Mama Knockout fight, slated for July 26 in Dar es Salaam.
A former national team star in amateur boxing, Changalawe is now making his debut in the professional boxing arena.
He is scheduled to face an international opponent whose identity has not yet been disclosed.
In an interview with The Respondent Online, the confident southpaw said he is in peak physical and mental condition as he intensifies his training regimen ahead of the bout.
“I feel strong, focused, and ready. I’m giving my all in training and following my coach’s instructions closely to ensure I deliver a strong performance and raise Tanzania’s flag high,” said Changalawe.
He expressed his gratitude to the event promoter, Mafia Boxing, for granting him the opportunity to transition from amateur to professional ranks.
“I thank Mafia Boxing for believing in me. I’ve built a reputation in amateur boxing, but now I’m stepping into a new chapter. I’ll be live on a professional stage, and people will see a different side of me. My motto has always been, ‘I live what I preach,’ and that’s exactly what I’m bringing to this fight,” he added.
Sending a bold message to his yet-to-be-named opponent, Changalawe said: “Tell him to come prepared. I’m not just any boxer I’m a lion. I’m going to make sure he feels that in the ring.”
The boxer, who represented Tanzania in several international tournaments including the Olympics, emphasized that he is not intimidated by the challenge ahead.
“I’ve faced top-level boxers on some of the biggest stages. I’m not afraid. This fight is just another opportunity to prove myself and show that Tanzania has world-class talent,” he said.
The Mama Knockout event is expected to attract fans from across the country, as Changalawe seeks to make a memorable professional debut and establish himself as a rising force in African boxing.
