Airtel Tanzania has launched a new business solution, Airtel Chapakazi, designed to empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with affordable and scalable digital tools that support their growth and sustainability.
The product was officially unveiled on June 15, 2025, at the company’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam, reaffirming Airtel’s commitment to driving inclusive digital transformation in Tanzania.
The initiative responds to a significant market gap, as national statistics indicate that only 15 percent of Tanzanian SMEs have access to formal digital marketing tools.
Airtel Chapakazi seeks to close this gap by providing tailored packages that enable small businesses to access the same digital infrastructure used by larger enterprises.
Through this offering, Airtel aims to strengthen the competitiveness of local businesses in an increasingly digital economy.
Airtel Chapakazi is available in five packages, each designed to suit the communication and data needs of businesses at different stages.
The SME Chap Pack, priced at TZS 100,000, includes two mobile lines with 10GB of data each, 1,000 SMS, 1,000 voice minutes to all networks, and a free 10 Mbps office router.
The SME Bomba Pack, at TZS 150,000, offers three mobile lines with similar benefits and a faster 20 Mbps router.
The Fahari Pack, priced at TZS 200,000, provides five mobile lines, a 10 Mbps router, and 5,000 bulk SMS.
The Supa Pack, for TZS 300,000, includes nine mobile lines, a 30 Mbps router, and 10,000 bulk SMS. The largest package, Max Pack, offers 14 mobile lines, a high-speed 50 Mbps router, and 15,000 bulk SMS for TZS 400,000 making it suitable for high-growth enterprises.
Speaking at the launch, Airtel Tanzania’s Director of Business Enterprise, Mr. Joseph Muhere, emphasized the importance of SMEs in the national economy, noting that they account for over 95 percent of all businesses, employ more than eight million people, and contribute around 35 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
“Despite their significance, many SMEs remain excluded from digital services that could enhance their competitiveness. Airtel Chapakazi is a practical solution to bridge that gap,” he said.
Mr. Muhere explained that the onboarding process is simple and efficient. Once verified, customers receive an SMS with a link to download the Chapakazi app from the Play Store.
Using their master number, they register, select a preferred package, and complete payment to activate the service.
“This platform is about more than just connectivity it’s about providing SMEs with the tools to thrive, scale, and lead in today’s digital economy,” he added.
The launch of Airtel Chapakazi aligns with Airtel Tanzania’s broader strategy to support the country’s digital and economic development goals.
By empowering small businesses with accessible technology, the company aims to foster job creation, improve service delivery, and enhance the resilience of local enterprises.
In a business landscape increasingly shaped by digital innovation, Airtel Tanzania’s latest offering positions it as a key enabler of SME transformation supporting national efforts to build an inclusive and competitive economy.
