Dar es Salaam. The National Youth Swimming Championship got underway in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, drawing young swimmers from both Tanzania and abroad as part of the Tanzania Swimming Association’s (TSA) annual calendar.
This year’s event has taken a unique approach, focusing on swimmers aged under 12 from various swimming clubs, a shift from the format seen in previous years.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, TSA Chairman David Mwasyoge said the championship aims to nurture young talents and prepare them for the future of competitive swimming.
“This competition is designed to identify and develop new talents who will represent the country in the coming years,” he said.
The two-day event, which started on Saturday, June 14, is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
