Bukombe. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr Doto Biteko, has called on members of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in Bukombe District to maintain peace and unity as the country heads toward the 2025 General Elections.
Speaking on June 14 shortly after inaugurating 31 modern shops constructed within the CCM premises in Bukombe, Geita Region, Dr Biteko, who also serves as Bukombe MP and a member of CCM’s National Executive Council, urged party members to avoid conflicts during the election period.
“As we approach the October 2025 general elections for the president, MPs, and councilors, I urge you to maintain peace and respect. Elections come and go, but our lives continue afterwards. Let us protect the unity, love, and brotherhood that exist among us,” he said.
Dr Biteko described the construction of the modern shops as a significant development for Ushirombo and surrounding areas, saying the project will stimulate economic growth and serve as a source of revenue.
“These shops will increase the attractiveness and value of this area, both in terms of land and property. Geita Region has been recording rapid growth driven by mining activities, and these businesses will help serve the growing population linked to that sector,” he added.
He also commended the district leadership for their teamwork in realizing the project, praising the CCM Bukombe District Chairman, Secretary, and 23 councilors for their contribution.
Dr Biteko reaffirmed CCM’s commitment to supporting innovative ideas that promote development, pointing to several ongoing projects including the construction of a market, bus terminal, and roads aimed at boosting the district’s economy.
He further appealed to CCM members to continue supporting President Samia Suluhu Hassan and her running mate, Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, in the October polls.
CCM Geita Regional Chairman, Mr Nicholous Kasendamila, commended the Bukombe party leadership for their role in completing the project, saying it reflects the party’s principle that politics and economy are closely linked.
Similarly, CCM National Executive Council Member for Geita, Mr Evarist Gervas, praised Dr Biteko for his leadership, noting that his efforts have strengthened the party’s structure and contributed to the district’s economic growth.
Earlier, CCM Bukombe District Secretary Leonard Mwakalukwa said the construction of the shops is part of the party’s policy of investing in income-generating projects.
He noted that the idea to upgrade and expand 21 existing stalls was initially proposed by Dr Biteko, with the district leadership fully supporting the initiative.
Mr Mwakalukwa added that the project is expected to boost the district’s revenue collection, further strengthening CCM’s financial capacity.
