Tanzania’s President Samia donates TZS 100 million for girls’ school security fence

Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan has donated TZS 100 million (approximately $38,000) towards the construction of a perimeter fence at Ruvu Girls Secondary School in Kibaha Rural District, located in the country’s Coast Region.

The contribution was announced on Saturday during a fundraising event held in Dar es Salaam, where Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa represented the President.

The event successfully raised TZS 510 million out of the TZS 700 million required for the project.

Prime Minister Majaliwa said the initiative reflects President Samia's commitment to ensuring that students, particularly girls, study in safe and secure environments.

He also urged local councils across Tanzania to allocate part of their internal revenues for the construction and rehabilitation of schools rather than relying solely on central government funding.

CPA Amos Makala, Chairman of the Construction Committee and Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, said the security fence will help protect the students and create a more conducive learning atmosphere.

The event attracted various government officials, education stakeholders, and members of the public who contributed to the fundraising effort.
