The leadership of the Tanzania Boxing Federation (BFT) has announced plans to host the National Boxing Championships from July 22 to 28 in Dodoma.
In an interview with The Respondent online, BFT Secretary General Makore Mashaga explained that the competition will involve participants from all regions across the country.
Mashaga emphasized the important role of regional officials in collaborating with local boxing associations to ensure full participation, particularly encouraging women’s involvement.
“These championships will also serve as a platform to select athletes to strengthen the national team in preparation for various international tournaments. We are placing special emphasis on ensuring that every region includes female boxers,” Mashaga said.
He added that holding the event in different regions is a strategic approach to promote and expand the sport nationwide.
Furthermore, Mashaga noted that the championships will help discover new young talent who will be key to the sport’s future development.
