In a strong show of environmental stewardship, Akiba Commercial Bank Plc (ACB) has partnered with the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) to plant 1,500 trees at the institution’s Kurasini campus—a meaningful stride in the bank’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.
The tree-planting exercise, led by the bank’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ms. Wezi Mwazani, reflects ACB’s belief that environmental protection is a shared duty among institutions and individuals alike.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Emmanuel Mseti, ACB’s Senior Manager for Personal Banking, expressed heartfelt gratitude to TIA’s leadership, staff, and student body for embracing the initiative and contributing to its success.
“This exercise is not just symbolic—it’s a hands-on reflection of our commitment to protecting the environment. At ACB, we believe in practical actions that drive change. From planting trees to offering eco-friendly digital banking services, sustainability is at the heart of what we do,” said Mr. Mseti.
He noted that ACB’s services—ACB Mobile, Internet Banking, and Akiba Wakala—are designed to enhance accessibility while also reducing reliance on paper, supporting a greener and more efficient banking ecosystem.
Mr. Mseti also spotlighted ACB’s broader environmental engagements, including its ongoing partnership with the Dodoma City Council in the upkeep and beautification of Independence Square Garden—another testament to the bank’s long-term investment in community welfare.
Encouraging students to become custodians of the planted trees, Mr. Mseti urged them to view this effort as a legacy for future generations.
“We look forward to replicating this initiative across other TIA campuses as opportunities arise,” he added, reaffirming ACB’s readiness to support environmental causes across the country.
For ACB, giving back to the community is not just an initiative—it’s a responsibility. From education and health to financial empowerment and environmental care, the bank remains committed to building a sustainable and inclusive future for all Tanzanians.
