The National Open Boxing Championship - Dar es Salaam 2025 roared to life on June 4th with thrilling preliminary bouts held at the Manyara Park Hall in Tandale, Dar es Salaam. The opening day featured fierce competition as boxers battled for supremacy and a chance to advance to the next stage.
In the 54kg weight category, Ashrafu Mustafa of Ngome dominated Nassim Abdallah from Morogoro with a clean 5-0 points victory. In the 57kg division, Mohamedi Mangochi, also from Ngome, secured a win against Nurdin Halfan, while Salum Athumani from JKT stopped Richard Valelium of Tandale with a decisive RSC (Referee Stopped Contest). Iddi Khamis edged out Nicholaus Steven of Tandale in a closely contested 3-2 bout.
Moving to the 60kg category, Shaban Rajabu delivered a dominant 5-0 performance against Imani Hamis from Keko Mwanga. Meanwhile, John Windambe of Kisarawe outboxed Steven Ngila from Ngome.
In other notable matches, the 63kg division saw Dickson Henry of Ngome fall to a RSCH (Referee Stopped Contest due to Head Injury) defeat at the hands of Batrose Mwambarasa from Morogoro. In the 57kg class, Kelvin Mulamula from Urafiki claimed a victory by KO over Nasir Abdallah from Mbagala.
The 54kg category also witnessed Msafiri from Tandale overpowering Johnson Mwaipopo of Kisarawe via RSCH, while Hassan Abdallah from Ngome suffered a 5-0 loss to Shamte Ramadhan of JKT.
Rounding off the action in the 63.5kg weight class, Tosh Triphone defeated Shabani Mganda both representing JKT by a clear 5-0 decision. Mohamed Juma, also from JKT, earned a RSCH win over Maluku Gidion of Mwanza.
