The Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), through its Upanga and Mloganzila campuses, has taken a strategic step to bring essential healthcare services closer to the public by actively participating in the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), famously known as Sabasaba.
Running from June 28 to July 13, 2025, at the Sabasaba Grounds in Dar es Salaam, the trade fair offers a unique opportunity for MNH to engage directly with citizens and promote preventive healthcare.
The hospital is offering its services at Pavilion Number 16, located along Maonesho Avenue.
Through this initiative, Muhimbili is providing a wide range of free and subsidized medical services, including eye examinations and eyeglass prescriptions, screening and treatment for ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions, reproductive health services for women, radiology diagnostics, emergency care, laboratory tests, and stitching services.
The hospital’s participation is part of its broader commitment to public health outreach and early detection of non-communicable and infectious diseases.
By offering on-the-spot checkups and consultations, Muhimbili is encouraging citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to get screened and seek expert advice on maintaining good health.
Speaking at the fair, MNH representatives emphasized the importance of regular health checkups and early diagnosis in preventing complications.
“We are here to serve and educate. Many health conditions are manageable if caught early. Sabasaba gives us the chance to meet the public where they are and raise awareness,” one official noted.
The hospital has continued to use major national events such as Sabasaba as platforms to promote health education, break stigmas around medical conditions, and make healthcare more accessible to all Tanzanians.
With its presence at the fair, Muhimbili not only reaffirms its position as the country’s leading referral hospital but also demonstrates its evolving role in community health engagement and disease prevention.
