Vice President Dr Philip Mpango arrived in Spain on Saturday, June 29, 2025, where he is set to represent President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), taking place in Seville from June 30 to July 3.
The high-level gathering provides a strategic platform for governments, international institutions, financial bodies, businesses, and civil society to collectively address financing gaps and align efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It also seeks to push for reforms in the global financial system to unlock much-needed investments in critical development sectors.
This year’s FfD4 conference is taking place at a time when many developing countries, including Tanzania, are navigating post-pandemic recovery, climate financing needs, and mounting debt challenges.
The summit aims to catalyse innovative financing models and enhance global partnerships to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth.
Dr Mpango is expected to participate in bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration between Tanzania and various development partners.
The discussions are set to focus on scaling up investment, strengthening economic ties, and mobilising resources for national development priorities.
Tanzania’s presence at the conference underlines its continued commitment to multilateralism and to shaping global conversations around equitable financing for development.
