Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Saturday, June 29, 2025, represented President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the East African Peace Forum held at Mirongo Primary School grounds in Mwanza.

The regional forum, convened by The Islamic Foundation in collaboration with Safina Islamic Foundation, brought together religious leaders, scholars, youth, women, and development stakeholders from across East Africa. It served as a critical platform to deliberate on peace, unity, and sustainable development across the region.

In a speech delivered on behalf of President Samia, Mr. Majaliwa underscored the government's commitment to fostering peace and social cohesion, highlighting that these values are central to Tanzania’s progress and stability.

“We believe in peace as the foundation of all development. This forum reflects our shared responsibility to ensure our communities live in harmony, regardless of background, religion, or nationality,” said the Prime Minister.

He applauded the organizers for creating a platform that encourages constructive dialogue and collaboration, particularly among young people and women, whose roles in peacebuilding and leadership are increasingly significant.

“This generation must be equipped not only with education and skills but also with values that promote tolerance, respect, and a sense of collective purpose,” Mr. Majaliwa added.

The forum featured panel discussions, cultural exhibitions, and presentations on topics such as interfaith dialogue, social justice, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance. Delegates also shared best practices on conflict prevention and peaceful coexistence.

Organizers said the event is part of a broader effort to promote dialogue and bridge divides in communities affected by misunderstanding, poverty, and political instability.

The Islamic Foundation and Safina Islamic Foundation are known for their ongoing contributions to peacebuilding and social development in Tanzania and beyond, including education, humanitarian support, and civic engagement.

The forum concluded with a collective call for sustained cooperation across governments, religious institutions, and civil society in addressing the root causes of conflict and nurturing peace throughout the East African region.
