Head Coach of the Tanzania women’s national football team, Twiga Stars, Bakari Shime, has called on fans to show strong support by attending their upcoming international friendly match against DR Congo. The match is scheduled for June 3, 2025, at the Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.
The fixture marks the second leg of the friendly series, with Twiga Stars having claimed a 2-1 victory in the first encounter at the same venue.
Speaking ahead of the game, Coach Shime emphasized the significance of the match, stating that the team is fully prepared and determined to replicate their earlier success.
“Our training sessions have been intense as we gear up for the upcoming WAFCON tournament. Naturally, that level of preparation can lead to a few injuries, but the situation is under control. We still have a solid squad, with at least 11 core players fit and ready,” Shime said.
He added a heartfelt appeal to fans: “I urge all supporters to turn out in large numbers and stand behind the team. Your presence makes a huge difference, and we need that energy as we continue building momentum.”
Following the match, Twiga Stars will shift their focus to preparations for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to take place later this year.
