The African School of Governance (ASG) completed a major presidential tour across Africa on June 1, 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The tour marked the official launch of a new institution focused on leadership and governance education tailored to African needs.
The tour was led by ASG President, Professor Kingsley Moghalu who visited several key cities like Nairobi, Lagos, Cairo, Maputo, and Abidjan.
The tour attracted attention from government officials, policymakers, academics, development partners, and young professionals eager to lead change.
At the Nairobi Governance Summit, Professor Moghalu delivered a bold message.
“The question won’t be what you studied or where. In ten years, the question will be, have you joined ASG?” he said.
ASG has partnered with leading institutions, including the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore whereby, together, they will launch a Master of Public Administration (MPA) program in September 2025.
The curriculum focuses on Africa’s specific challenges and aims to promote ethical, practical, and transformative leadership.
“Africa’s governance challenges won’t be solved by imported frameworks,” said Professor Moghalu, adding that “We’re creating something new, designed by Africa, for Africa.”
ASG is not a typical graduate school, it provides hands-on training, real-life case studies, and opportunities to interact directly with leaders in government and business, targeting mid-career professionals aged 25 to 50, aiming to help them grow into future African leaders.
Recruitment for the first group of students will close in July.
The school plans to enroll between 40 and 50 high-potential candidates. Tuition is $15,000 per year, but ASG offers generous scholarships to make the program accessible across the continent.
By 2027, ASG plans to introduce additional programs in corporate governance and public finance.
The institution is led by Professor Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and a respected expert in governance and economic reform.
“This is the beginning of something powerful,” he said. “ASG is where the future of African governance begins.”
