Traditional dance, choir performances, and contemporary music (Bongo Flavor) are key artistic categories featured in the Tanzania Primary and Secondary Schools Sports and Arts Union Competitions (UMITASHUMTA & UMISSETA).

According to Yusuph Singo, the Sports Coordinator at The President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government, these artistic platforms provide students with valuable opportunities to showcase their talents by performing traditional dances representing the diverse ethnic groups of Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, singing patriotic songs, and entertaining audiences with modern music styles.

For the 2025 UMITASHUMTA & UMISSETA competitions, regions participating from Iringa are expected to field dance groups, choirs, and contemporary music artists to compete for the championship title.

The event, themed "Good Leaders Are the Foundation for the Development of Education, Arts, and Sports – Participate in the 2025 General Elections Peacefully and Calmly," will commence on May 7, 2025.

It is scheduled to be officially opened on May 9, 2025, in Iringa Town by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa.

The President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government  is the main coordinator and overseer of UMITASHUMTA & UMISSETA 2025, working in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Information, Arts, Culture, and Sports.
