Dar es Salaam. The outgoing President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, arrived in Tanzania on June 12, 2025, for a four-day official visit aimed at strengthening the Bank's partnership with the country.
Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dr. Adesina was received by Agriculture Minister Hussein Bashe and Deputy Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Minister Denis Londo.
During his visit, Dr. Adesina is expected to hold bilateral talks with President Samia Suluhu Hassan, focusing on AfDB’s ongoing support for Tanzania’s development agenda.
He will also attend inauguration ceremonies for the Msalato International Airport and the Dodoma ring road on June 14, 2025—both strategic projects financed in part by the AfDB.
Additionally, on June 13, the University of Dar es Salaam will award Dr. Adesina an honorary doctorate in recognition of his leadership and contributions to Africa’s economic transformation.
The AfDB remains one of Tanzania's key development partners, supporting major investments in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and regional integration.
