Zanzibar to host International cycling race in june

The Tassociation (CHABATA) has confirmed that preparations are in full swing for the highly anticipated Tour of Zanzibar 2025, an international cycling race set to take place from June 20 to 22, 2025, in the scenic isles of Zanzibar.

CHABATA Chairman, Godfrey Mhagama, told The Respondent Online that the association is committed to delivering a world-class event that meets international standards and showcases Tanzania’s potential as a hub for competitive cycling.

“Our preparations are progressing steadily, with a focus on professionalism and excellence. This event is not just a race it’s a platform to revive and elevate the status of cycling in Tanzania,” Mhagama said.

He explained that the primary goal is to promote the sport both locally and globally, restoring its former glory and encouraging widespread participation.

“Events like the Tour of Zanzibar are instrumental in inspiring communities to engage in cycling not just as a sport, but as a lifestyle, a form of exercise, and a source of employment and opportunity,” he added.

Mhagama emphasized that the race will also serve as a unique opportunity to promote Zanzibar’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential to an international audience.

“We welcome stakeholders from all sectors to join us in making this event a success. Their support will be vital in ensuring that the tour is impactful, inclusive, and professionally executed,” he said.
