The event will be graced by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa, as the Guest of Honor.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, BMT’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Najaha Bakari, confirmed that preparations are 99.9% complete, with the only remaining step being the arrival of invited guests and stakeholders.
The awards are aimed at honoring and celebrating outstanding achievements by athletes, coaches, referees, and teams who have made significant contributions to the sports sector in Tanzania.
Najaha highlighted that the primary goal of the awards is to motivate and recognize those who have excelled, especially in international competitions where they proudly represent the country.
She emphasized the importance of acknowledging their efforts so that they return home knowing their success is appreciated.
By recognizing referees, coaches, and athletes alike, BMT hopes to foster a sense of national pride and inspire upcoming talents to get involved in sports.
The initiative also seeks to create awareness of the importance of sports and to encourage those not yet participating to consider joining.
She extended an open invitation to stakeholders and the general public to attend and support the event, noting that their presence will help make this year’s awards more impactful and set the tone for even better editions in the future.
This year’s award categories include Best Male Athlete, with nominees such as Yusuph Changalawe (Boxing), Alphonce Simbu (Athletics), and Fadhili Majia (Professional Boxing).
