Zainab Katimba, the Deputy Minister for Education at the Office of the President - TAMISEMI, recently visited the TAMISEMI exhibition booth at the 18th International Conference and Exhibition on E-Learning, Training, and Skills Development in Dar es Salaam.
The event is taking place at the Mwalimu Nyerere International Conference Center from May 7 to 9, 2025, and brings together stakeholders in the field of education and technology.
“I’m impressed with the way the School Information System (SIS) is transforming the management of school data,” said Katimba. “It’s clear that technology is playing a vital role in improving the quality of education and ensuring better data collection and analysis for decision-making.”
During her visit, Katimba had the opportunity to observe the practical application of the SIS, which collects daily school data through integrated modules.
The system is designed to streamline education management by providing real-time information to both schools and policymakers.
In addition, Katimba was introduced to the concept of smart classrooms, which are an integral part of eLearning initiatives. “The smart classrooms are revolutionizing how we teach and learn,” she noted.
“By integrating technology into education, we are creating a more interactive and effective learning environment for students.”
The eLearning Africa conference, held for the second time in Tanzania, has become a significant platform for educators, technology experts, and policymakers to share knowledge and strategies for advancing education through technology.
The event’s theme, “Reimagining Education and Human Resource Development for Africa’s Future Prosperity,” underscores the importance of innovation in shaping the future of education across the continent.
The conference is organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, and involves a wide range of stakeholders from ministries, international organizations, and education institutions.
As Katimba concluded, “By rethinking how we approach education, we are setting the foundation for a prosperous and empowered future for Africa.”
