TTTA sets criteria for national team selection

By Victoria Godfrey

The leadership of the Tanzania Table Tennis Association (TTTA) has outlined that discipline, dedication, and consistent effort in training are the primary criteria for players to be selected for the national team. This team will represent Tanzania at the upcoming African Schools Championships, set to take place in Algeria this August.

This will mark the inaugural edition of the championships, with Tanzania confirming its participation in both table tennis and football events.

In an interview with The Respondent Online, Leonard Liunda, the Acting Secretary-General of TTTA, shared that the players have already been identified and are currently undergoing group training in preparation for the competition.

Liunda emphasized that the selection process would be based on these key factors, with each player evaluated individually to ensure they are fully prepared to represent Tanzania on the international stage.

"As an association, we’ve already started our preparations. Players are traveling to and from training sessions while we await further plans from the government and the Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC) to finalize all the arrangements before heading to the competition," Liunda stated.
