Tanzanians to pray and support Simba in CAF Confederation Cup final tomorrow

By Flora Mkoloma

As Simba Sports Club prepares for the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) final, Deputy Minister of Information, Hamis Mwinjuma, has asked all Tanzanians to come together, pray, and support the team.

Speaking on May 24, 2025, Mwinjuma said the match is a matter of national pride. He encouraged people to support Simba in any way they can  by going to the stadium or watching the game on TV  as they face Morocco’s RS Berkane tomorrow at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

“We are ready. Even though we lost the first leg and it looks like a tough challenge, we believe it is still possible. As the government, we are fully behind Simba. With the guidance of President Samia Suluhu Hassan and President of Zanzibar Hussein Mwinyi, we have done everything we can to support the team so they can focus on the game,” he said.

Mwinjuma also announced an increase in the “Mama’s Goal Award” from TZS 20 million to TZS 30 million for each goal scored in the final.

“The hard work and courage of our young players is their strength, and tomorrow it could help them win the title,” he added.

He said this is a great chance for Tanzania to raise its flag high in Africa and make history by winning a major club title for the first time. “This could be the beginning of even more success.”

Simba lost 2-0 in the first leg in Morocco. Now, the team has 90 minutes in tomorrow’s match to try and turn things around and win the trophy.
