Tanzania and Japan have agreed to enhance their collaboration in the transport and infrastructure sectors, following high-level talks between Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa and Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Hiromasa Nakano.

The agreement was reached during a bilateral meeting held in Tokyo today, as part of Prime Minister Majaliwa’s official visit to Japan.

The two leaders expressed their commitment to deepening ties in land development, infrastructure, and transport, areas vital to both countries' economic ambitions.

In a separate session, the Prime Minister also met with Miyamoto Yoichi, President of the Japan Infrastructure Development Association (JAIDA), and his delegation.

Their discussions explored investment opportunities and areas of potential cooperation within Tanzania’s growing infrastructure sector.

Prime Minister Majaliwa has been in Japan since May 25, 2025, where he officiated the opening of the Tanzania Business, Investment and Tourism Forum.

The event brought together business leaders and investors from both nations and was part of Tanzania’s broader participation in the World Expo Osaka 2025.

Expo Osaka 2025, which will take place on Yumeshima Island in Osaka, is a global platform celebrating innovation, culture, and sustainable development. Tanzania is showcasing its rich heritage, tourism potential, and investment opportunities to the world through its participation in the expo.
