The Deputy Minister for Works, Engineer Godfrey Kasekenya, today, May 27, 2025, held a high-level meeting with the Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of the Republic of Korea, Hyun Hwan Jin, and his delegation at the Ministry’s offices in Dodoma.
During the meeting, the Government of Tanzania expressed its appreciation to the Republic of Korea for its continued support and collaboration across various sectors particularly in infrastructure development.
Tanzania specifically acknowledged Korea’s financial support in the construction of the Tanzanite Bridge in Dar es Salaam.
The bridge, which spans 1.03 kilometers, along with 5.2 kilometers of connecting roads, has been successfully completed and is now fully operational.
Deputy Minister Kasekenya praised the strong partnership between Korean institutions such as K-FINCO and KIND, and Tanzanian agencies under the Ministry, including TBA and TANROADS.
These partnerships have focused on financing major infrastructure projects and advancing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives to boost national development.
On his part, Vice Minister Hyun Hwan Jin commended the Government of Tanzania for its commitment to fostering bilateral cooperation.
He reaffirmed Korea’s dedication to strengthening ties and explored opportunities for South Korean construction companies to take part in future infrastructure projects in Tanzania. These include roads, railways, airports, ports, and urban development initiatives.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry and its key institutions, including TBA, TANROADS, and TEMESA.
