Simba in Zanzibar focus only on winning CAF Confederation Cup

By Flora Mkoloma

Simba SC’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, has declared that the team is in Zanzibar for only one reason – to win the title, not just to play a match.

Simba will face RS Berkane in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final on May 25 at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar. In the first leg held in Morocco, Simba lost 2-0 to the Moroccan side.

Speaking during the unveiling of the team’s camp in Zanzibar, Ally emphasized that when they say they're here to win the title, they mean they are ready to fight with everything they have to lift the trophy.

Let me ease your worries  the battle is ongoing. Those you see here are just a few; everyone has come from wherever they were to Zanzibar for one mission: to ensure Simba wins the title. The battle off the pitch has already begun and we’re in great shape,” said Ally.

This battle isn't for one person alone. While the leaders are fighting on one front, you must fight on another. People have different strengths, and the honor we are chasing on Sunday isn’t just for one person  you will be the ones celebrating in the streets,” he added.

We’re seeking collective pride, and for that, we must work together. My brothers, we want this title  and God willing, it will stay with Simba Sports Club. We don’t want this to end up as just another piece of history like in 1993. We will make it count.”

He urged Simba fans not to doubt: “Let no Simba fan have doubts. I assure you, by God’s grace, we’ll bring back two goals at Amaan and the third will give us the title.”

Ally pointed out that Simba has already achieved many great things this season. “Forget past achievements — this season, everyone who beat us, we beat them back. Berkane had their turn, now it's ours. We're not saying this because of history, but because of our current quality.”

We accept that Benjamin Mkapa Stadium is our fortress, but we don’t win because of the stadium  we win because of our quality. Amaan Stadium brought us to the finals, and it will bring us the title. We owe a debt to the late President Mwinyi, and now we’re going to repay it in front of his son, President Dr. Hussein Mwinyi.”

He concluded, “The late President Dr. Magufuli predicted that we would be the first to bring an African title  now let’s go fulfill that dream.”
