The Public-Private Partnership Center (PPPC), in partnership with the Research and Education for Democracy in Tanzania (REDET), has organized a public dialogue to discuss the role of the public and private sectors in achieving Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050.
The event will take place on May 27, 2025, at the University of Dar es Salaam Library Hall. It will be open to everyone.
Speaking to journalists today, the PPPC Executive Director, Mr. David Kafulila, said that the aim of the event is to help the public understand government plans, laws, and policies related to public-private partnerships.
“One of our roles at PPPC is to make sure people understand key issues related to partnerships. That is why we decided to work with REDET, which has a good history of hosting national dialogues,” said Mr. Kafulila.
He invited all Tanzanians to attend the event and take part in the discussions. He added that this kind of engagement is important for national development.
On his part, Professor Rwekaza Mukandala, who is the Chairperson of REDET, said that the event will include several presentations on key topics.
One of the topics will focus on “The Role of Public-Private Partnerships in Achieving Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050.” It will cover issues such as the state, markets, and capital mobilization.
Mr. Kafulila will present a paper on the idea of public-private partnerships and how they can help the country reach its development goals. Professor Mukandala will lead the discussions during the event.
The dialogue will bring together government officials, business leaders, scholars, and representatives from various sectors.
Professor Mukandala also encouraged the public to attend and join the conversation. He said that development plans should involve the voices of the people.
The event comes at a time when the government is preparing new plans for the future, after the current development vision ends in 2025. Many experts believe that working together—government and private sector—will be key to success.
Through this public dialogue, PPPC and REDET hope to collect useful ideas that can help shape Tanzania’s path to becoming a strong and inclusive economy by 2050.
