DAWASA announces water cut for power system upgrades

Thousands of residents in Kinondoni District, Dar es Salaam, are expected to face a temporary disruption in clean water supply on Sunday, June 1, 2025, due to scheduled maintenance works.

According to a public notice issued by the Dar es Salaam Water and Sanitation Authority (DAWASA), the water supply will be interrupted for approximately nine hours from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM in the areas of Mabwepande, Wazo, Salasala, Bunju A and B, Mivumoni, Tegeta A, and all parts of Goba.

The water supply cut is a result of ongoing power system upgrades by the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO).

The electrical maintenance is expected to impact several booster pumping stations that deliver water to these neighborhoods.

DAWASA has advised residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance to meet their daily needs during the period of the outage.

“This temporary disruption is necessary to allow for essential upgrades to the electricity infrastructure, which in turn supports our water supply systems,” the notice stated.

“We ask for our customers’ understanding and cooperation as we work to improve service reliability.”

The authority emphasized that normal water supply will resume immediately after TANESCO completes the maintenance work.

Residents are encouraged to remain updated through official DAWASA communication channels, including social media, the DAWASA website, and customer service hotlines.

While short-term interruptions can be inconvenient, DAWASA reiterated its commitment to providing safe, clean, and reliable water services across Dar es Salaam.

The public is reminded to report any unexpected issues during the outage or once water supply resumes to the nearest DAWASA service center.
