The Government of Tanzania, through the National Sports Council (BMT), has pledged full support to the Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) as the national under-19 men’s cricket team prepares to compete in the 2026 ICC U19 World Cup to be held in Zimbabwe.
This commitment was made yesterday by BMT Executive Secretary Neema Msitha during a ceremony in Dar es Salaam to congratulate the U19 cricket team on qualifying for the World Cup.
Msitha emphasized that the government will collaborate closely with the Association to ensure comprehensive and professional preparations, with the goal of sending a competitive team to the global stage.
"We recognize and commend the efforts being made by the Association. The government stands ready to support your journey to ensure it is 100% successful. Our hope and expectation is that you will not only participate, but return home victorious," said Msitha.
She expressed confidence in the team’s potential to win the tournament, citing strong leadership and strategic planning as key factors in their success.
Msitha also extended her congratulations to the players, coaches, and officials for their dedication and hard work, which led to the team's qualification and brought pride to the nation.
She noted that the government is highly encouraged by the Association’s well-executed development plans, which have laid a solid foundation for even greater achievements in the future.
Speaking at the same event, TCA Vice Chairman Ashish Paresh Nagewadia stated that preparations for the World Cup campaign are already underway.
He attributed the team’s qualification to unity, cooperation, and a strong sense of teamwork among both players and officials.
