CCM urges members to prepare strategically for October elections

By Our Correspondent, Pemba

The ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), has called on its leaders and members in Pemba to begin preparing both psychologically and strategically for the upcoming general elections scheduled for October this year.

The party emphasized that elections are a serious contest grounded in the strength of ideas and policies — not a form of entertainment or a casual activity.

This message was delivered by Khamis Mbeto Khamis, Secretary of the Special Committee of the NEC in Zanzibar for Ideology, Publicity, and Training, during a meeting with youth mobilizers and artists at Makonyo Hall in Wawi, Pemba.

Mbeto urged every leader and party member to do everything within their power to secure a democratic victory by actively engaging and mobilizing citizens and supporters.

“Victory in an election is earned through the clear presentation of a party’s policies, active voter participation, transparent counting, and the official announcement of results,” he said.

“Every political party aims to secure the majority of votes, because elections are not just about empty rhetoric or wishful thinking.”he added

He added, “The party expects all its leaders to get organized and begin strategic preparations immediately. The elections are fast approaching, and we must act early.”

Mbeto also reminded members that CCM begins preparing for the next election cycle as soon as one ends, and cautioned against complacency or falling into routine habits.

“Elections evolve based on the prevailing circumstances. Just like malaria tests can show a high or low parasite count depending on the environment, each election brings its own unique challenges and dynamics,” he said.

He emphasized the importance of teamwork, stating that no individual can achieve success alone. He called on CCM leaders to work closely with their members at all levels.

“To our artists  start composing inspiring campaign songs. To our mobilizers  go house to house, neighborhood to neighborhood, and ward to ward to ask for votes. This is not just a campaign task; it is your democratic responsibility,” he said.

Mbeto also announced that all campaign songs will be reviewed and approved before being released, and urged songwriters to begin crafting lyrics that both educate and motivate the public about the upcoming general election.
