The Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) has announced April 15, 2025, as the final deadline for teams to confirm their participation in the upcoming Union Volleyball Tournament, set to take place from April 22 to 26 at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) grounds.
TVF’s Technical Director, Zakaria Bizimana, said preparations for the annual tournament are well underway.
He called on teams from both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar to take advantage of the remaining days to confirm their participation by submitting the required registration fees.
“We encourage all interested teams to finalize their confirmation before April 15,” Bizimana told The Respondent Online.
“Each team is required to pay a participation fee of TSh 250,000. Those entering with two teams will pay TSh 500,000.”
He noted that the tournament serves not only as a platform for competitive play but also as a celebration of the longstanding Union between Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
It brings together athletes from across the nation and fosters a spirit of unity, sportsmanship, and national pride.
“This tournament goes beyond the court—it symbolizes our unity as a nation. It is an opportunity for teams to build connections and for players to showcase their talent on a national stage,” he said.
TVF expects more than 20 teams, comprising both men’s and women’s squads, to take part in this year’s competition.
Bizimana added that the federation has completed all necessary preparations on its end and is now focused on receiving the teams and ensuring the smooth execution of the tournament.
In addition to the main event, the federation will also organize a refresher course for volleyball referees. The aim is to sharpen their knowledge of the game’s rules and evaluate their readiness to officiate during the tournament and in future assignments.
“The referee training will help us assess their capabilities and assign them to appropriate officiating levels,” said Bizimana.
“It’s also a chance to refresh their understanding of the latest game rules and procedures.”
The Union Volleyball Tournament remains one of the most important fixtures on TVF’s calendar. It plays a key role in promoting the sport across the country and identifying emerging talent for possible national team selection.
With just days left before the confirmation deadline, TVF is urging all eligible teams to register promptly to ensure their place in the competition and contribute to this celebration of unity through sport.
