President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has donated essential supplies and festive gifts to 21 children's homes and social welfare centers in Mbeya to support their Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
The donation includes sugar, flour, goats for meals, juice, salt, and soap, all of which have been distributed across the region’s children’s homes.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mbeya Regional Commissioner Dr. Juma Homera emphasized that President Samia’s gesture reaffirms her commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities in social welfare centers.
Dr. Homera noted that Mbeya region received TZS 10 million to purchase the supplies, ensuring that all 21 centers benefitted.
"Each home will receive one goat for meat, 40 kilograms of rice, a box of soap, and four cartons of juice, along with additional supplies of flour, sugar, and salt. On behalf of the people of Mbeya, we are deeply grateful for this generous support," said Dr. Homera.
Mbeya Regional Social Welfare Officer Aika Temu commended the initiative, describing it as a reflection of President Samia’s compassionate leadership.
"Her decision to remember and support vulnerable groups highlights her motherly heart and genuine concern for the well-being of all Tanzanians," said Temu.
Alice Mtui, a representative from Mkate wa Watoto children’s home, which is run by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT) – Konde Diocese, expressed appreciation for the donation, calling it an act of profound kindness.
“This support goes beyond charity—it is a gesture of care and love. The children will feel special knowing that President Dr. Samia is thinking about them,” she said.
Mtui added that the donated supplies would allow the children to enjoy a unique celebration with meals different from their daily routine, making Eid even more memorable for them.
