The Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) has signed a partnership agreement with ENABEL to offer short-term training to 600 young people at VETA institutions in the Tanga and Mwanza regions through the Inclusive Training Project.
The agreement, aimed at supporting the National Blue Economy and Renewable Energy policies, was signed on March 28, 2025, at ENABEL’s headquarters in Masaki, Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, ENABEL’s Resident Director in Tanzania, Mr. Koenraad Goekint, emphasized that this partnership would help achieve the government’s goal of preparing youth for the future by equipping them with essential skills.
“ENABEL recognizes that Tanzania is undergoing significant transformations in its labor market and economy, with youth playing a pivotal role in addressing these changes. As such, VETA’s role in providing targeted training to equip youth for the future is critical,” he said.
VETA’s Director General, CPA Antony Kasore, expressed his appreciation to ENABEL for supporting the initiative.
He noted that the project aligns with the government’s efforts outlined in the National Blue Economy Policy of April 2024, which focuses on providing skills that protect the environment while promoting gender equality in training institutions.
"Previously, only 22-30% of trainees in our institutions were women. With the increase in enrollment, projects like this are vital to help us achieve our goal of ensuring that women make up 45% of all students receiving training," he stated.
The project will provide short-term training for young women and girls in various fields, including Solar Electricity, Welding, Waste Management in Water Systems, Cooking, Household Electricity, and Fishing.
