ETDCO, a subsidiary of TANESCO specializing in the construction and rehabilitation of power transmission and distribution infrastructure, has donated a variety of essential items to Igamilo Children’s Center in Tabora.
The gesture is part of their efforts to demonstrate community solidarity and extend Eid al-Fitr greetings to those in need.
The donated items include a goat, sugar, soap, rice, wheat flour, maize flour, cooking oil, cleaning supplies, soft drinks, and biscuits.
During the handover ceremony on March 30, 2025, in Tabora, Engineer Ntuli Burton, the Project Supervisor for the 132-kilovolt power transmission line from Tabora to Urambo, who represented ETDCO's Acting General Manager, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting local communities, particularly in areas where they are executing projects.
Engineer Burton expressed that the donation would allow the children at the center to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with the joy and spirit of the season, just like children living with their families.
“As a company involved in the construction and rehabilitation of power infrastructure, we consider it our responsibility to assist the communities around us, especially in areas where we are implementing projects like the Tabora-Urambo power transmission project here in Igamilo,” Burton said.
The head of Igamilo Children’s Center, Abu Salim, thanked ETDCO for its generous donation, emphasizing that the support would help bring joy to the children during Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
“I urge the community to remember the children in orphanages, just as ETDCO has done, by visiting and offering support,” Salim stated.
