The Chairman of the Tanzania Cycling Association (CHABATA), Godfrey Mhagama, has appealed to Tanzanians for prayers as he seeks election to the African Cycling Union (CAC) committee. The elections are scheduled to take place on February 16 in Egypt.
Mhagama is the only candidate from Tanzania vying for the position, demonstrating his dedication to representing the country at the continental level.
He and CHABATA’s Secretary are set to travel tomorrow to attend a pre-election meeting of member associations, which will take place ahead of the general elections.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, Mhagama reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the sport of cycling in Tanzania.
“My goal is to elevate cycling in Tanzania by securing more opportunities and support. Holding this position will enable me to advocate for increased assistance from the International Cycling Union (UCI) for developing nations like Tanzania,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of being part of the decision-making structure, stating, “When you are inside the system, your voice is heard more than when you are outside. If elected, I will work towards unlocking new prospects for the sport in Tanzania.”
