Zanzibar Heroes fall to Burkina Faso in Mapinduzi Cup

Zanzibar Heroes, the national football team of Zanzibar, suffered a 1-0 defeat against Burkina Faso in a Mapinduzi Cup clash held today at Gombani Stadium, Pemba.

The game’s only goal came in the 74th minute when Hanaby Hadalou struck decisively, securing a vital win for Burkina Faso.

The first half ended in a stalemate, with neither side managing to break through the defenses. The scoreboard remained 0-0 after the initial 45 minutes.

In the second half, both teams intensified their efforts, but it was Burkina Faso who capitalized on their opportunity, holding onto their lead until the final whistle.

The victory places Burkina Faso at the top of the group standings with four points from one win and one draw. Zanzibar Heroes follow in second place with three points, earned from one win and one loss in their two matches.

Kenya is currently in third place with one point from a single draw, while Tanzania Mainland’s Kilimanjaro Stars sit at the bottom, having yet to secure any points after their opening match.

Kenya will look to improve their standings when they face Tanzania Mainland in their second group-stage fixture.
